The Story
Behind My GitKit
It all started when I realized my 97-year-old mother was truly getting up there in age. As the one who would eventually be responsible for her estate, I felt a growing need to get her important documents in order—just in case. Little by little, I gathered everything: her finances, insurance policies, will and trust paperwork, and any other critical information. I sorted and labeled it all, finally placing it in one simple, accessible box.
That’s when My GitKit was born.
“GitKit” stands for “Get-It-Together Kit”—because that’s exactly what it helped me do. I had finally created a single place for everything that mattered in an emergency or during end-of-life planning. No more guessing where something was. No more frantic searches. No more stress.
But something unexpected happened while organizing my mom’s documents: I realized I didn’t have my own act together. While I may not be 97, I travel, I live in a fire zone, and life is unpredictable. Accidents, sudden illnesses, or mandatory evacuations aren’t out of the question.
So I took the same care to organize my own documents—and now My GitKit has even more in it than my mom’s.
Everything my husband or kids would need to step in and handle my affairs is in one place. No confusion. No chaos. Just peace of mind.
After going through this process, I kept thinking: How many people are out there silently wondering what will happen when they pass?
Who will get the arduous task of sorting through their life, hunting for bank accounts, passwords, titles, or insurance policies?
We don’t like to think about it—but that doesn’t make it go away.
Too often, people say “I should have organized this” or “I could have made this easier for them”—but it’s too late. Families are left scrambling, grieving, and stressed at the worst possible time.
My GitKit is here to change that. My GitKit is a tool for love, preparedness, and relief. Whether you’re 37 or 97, there’s never a wrong time to get your life in order. It’s a gift to yourself and the people you love most.
